Austral Iceberg Expedition Road – 5 days / 4 nights

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Balmaceda in the middle of Chilean Patagonia, transfer to the Hotel in the city of Coyhaique. On the way you can see the Salto del Rio Pollux, La Muralla China, La Laguna Foitzic and Cerro Mckay. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Breakfast, departure to a tour-adventure along the Carretera Austral, we will observe the beautiful Mañihuales river and its impressive landscape, the Laguna Aguirre Cerda, the Lake of the Towers in the Conaf Forest Park. Lunch “box-lunch”. The tour continues on the way to La Zaranda Lagoon and the Queulat National Park, where, if conditions permit, you will be able to see the fabulous Puyuhuapi Hanging Glacier and its 130-meter waterfall. Tall. Finally we reach Pto. Puyuhuapi, at the Resort Hotel Termas de Puyuahuapi. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 3: Breakfast and lunch. After lunch visit Puyuhuapi and the handmade carpet factory. Start the tour to Coyhaique, visit to the Salto del Padre Garcia, Cuesta Queulat and a 1-hour walk through the rainforest through fallen trunks, streams and spring waters. Finally the base of the lower Queulat glacier, which is covered by a layer of rocks and stones, will be observed. At the height of the mountain the impressive cornices of the glacier, which break off in pieces of ice that fall into the lagoon. The route continues along the River Cisne. Accommodation at the Hotel in Coyhaique, dinner.

Day 4: Early, departure to Puerto Chacabuco, begins an adventure tour to the Millennial San Rafael Glacier. On the way you can see the Andes Mountain Range, El Salto de la Virgen, El Salto Velo de la Novia, Farellón Tunnel, Simpson River, Las Pizarras, El Queque Inglés and in Puerto Aisén the Presidente Ibáñez suspension bridge. Once in Pto. Chacabuco, the Catamaran will be tackled. We will sail for 4.5 hours between fjords and Patagonian channels before reaching the San Rafael Glacier Millennial and its 20,000 year old snowdrift. After lunch the Zodiac will be tackled where you can see the floating Icebergs with different shapes and colors and if the conditions allow it to detach ice from the Glacier that reaches 70 meters high. In the afternoon, return to Puerto Chacabuco and then to the Hotel in Coyhaique. Accommodation.

Day 5: Breakfast and day tour to the beautiful Lake Elizalde, visiting the area called Six Lagoons. Then lunch at Hotel Coyhaique and at the end of the same transfer to Balmaceda Airport.
