Cape de Hornos and Canal Beagle

Cabo de Hornos y Canal Beagle
Between Canal Beagle and Cape Horn we find a series of islands and archipelagos, fjords and channels, which make up the last corners of the Chilean territory.

The Beagle Channel was named after the ship in which the renowned scientist Charles Darwin, traveled around the world and passed through the Strait of Magellan a hundred and fifty years ago. Meanwhile, Cape Horn appears as the last redoubt of the continent, with protected islands under the Cape Horn National Park.

In this area is Navarino Island, the largest in the sector, where Puerto Williams was installed, the capital and largest city of the Chilean Antarctic Province. There you can practice trekking, visit the Museum in Puerto Williams, and hire tours that travel to Antarctica.
Finally, we find the Cordillera Darwin, the last sketch of the Cordillera de los Andes, which appears interspersed at this point of the continent. It runs from east to west along the northern bank of the Beagle Channel. Its summits exhibit thousand-year-old forms of ice that fall towards the fjords, forming stations for the boats, which are forced to stop before the ice walls.
